The Team

Duncan Ritchie, CEO

Duncan has more than 20 years’ experience in investment banking, finance and project development.

Duncan started his career with ANZ Investment Bank in London in 1990, where he worked in credit, structured finance, product development and debt syndication roles. In 1994 he established ANZ Investment Bank’s office in Vietnam and lived and worked there until October 1998, growing that office to a team of five dedicated Investment Banking executives, focused primarily on advisory and debt arrangement for infrastructure-related transactions in the Vietnam market.

Duncan subsequently worked in Hong Kong and Singapore with ANZ Investment Bank and, latterly, in Hong Kong with SG Asia Ltd, focusing on project finance advisory assignments across Asia.

In 2005, Duncan established Aequero, an independent boutique advisory firm focused on the energy and infrastructure sectors in Asia.

In addition to private sector project developers and investors, Duncan has advised governments and multilateral and bilateral development agencies on issues relating to renewable energy development and public-private partnerships (PPP) in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Duncan graduated from Aquinas College in Perth, Australia and from the University of Western Australia where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Yanis Boudjouher, Managing Director

Yanis has sixteen years’ experience in corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions and risk & hedging strategies, specialising in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Before joining Aequero, Yanis worked at EDF (Electricite de France) in Paris and London, latterly as Co-Head of M&A and Structured Finance.

While working at EDF, Yanis accomplished several multi-billion cross-boarder transactions such as the disposal of the UK electricity distribution network business, the acquisition of the second biggest utility in Belgium and a major asset swap between France and Germany.

Yanis served on the Investment Committee for EDF Energies Nouvelles where he appraised investment opportunities ranging from wind farms to solar and biomass projects in Europe, US and Canada. Yanis was also a board member of several power generation companies in Spain and China.

During his career, Yanis has also led advisory engagements in asset allocation and risk & hedging strategies across several commodity markets such as gas, coal, carbon and power. He also negotiated off-take agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements and peak / off-peak swap contrats.

Yanis started his career as Commercial Director, responsible for gas and electricity sales to industrial and commercial customers, where he set up Energy Efficiency programmes for residential and industrial customers.

Yanis is a Chartered Engineer from SUPELEC Engineering school in France where he completed an M.Sc. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder from the CFA Institute in the US.
